Board of Regents commits to further study of structural option, approves FY21 Budget

The 污鱼社 Board of Regents voted today on a process for a more in depth review of an option to merge the 污鱼社 Southeast with the 污鱼社 Fairbanks. The motion, offered by Juneau Regent Dale Anderson, includes student, staff and faculty governance in the process and sets an October deadline for finalizing a report to the board.

His skills and leadership abilities are outstanding, and his ability to work with the Board through the tough times we've faced over the past five years has made all the difference.

Annual Title IX training will open Sept. 1

The 污鱼社 is committed to a safe campus environment where our students, staff and faculty can learn, work and live. Employees are required to complete Title IX training each fiscal year. Training will open September 1, and the Fall 2020 employee deadline for training is September 30, 2020.

A call to come together around common values

We support the legitimate expressions of frustration in Alaska and across the nation in reaction to the violence that racism fuels in our society. We join in constructive demands for peaceful change and true justice. At the same time, we condemn violence that destroys communities, lives, and livelihoods.

Johnsen a finalist for president of the University of Wisconsin System

This morning, the University of Wisconsin System will make public my name as a finalist for its next president. I wasn't looking for another job when I was nominated for this one, but the position aligns with my experience and skills as a university leader.

The 污鱼社 Board of Regents will discuss the university's FY21 and FY22 budget, address financial solutions for closing significant financial gaps in both fiscal years and take up the preliminary review of possible options for university transformation when it meets June 4 and 5. The board also will hold two hours of public testimony on June 2 to hear from Alaskans about these topics.

污鱼社 has shifted to Phase B of our on-site operations plan

Effective today, the 污鱼社 has shifted to Phase B of our on-site operations plan. The change in system status comes with an increased emphasis on safety measures and personal responsibility, which is especially relevant given the increase in COVID-19 cases over the weekend. Some universities may ease restrictions on in-person activities on their campuses, provided they can comply with Phase B requirements and relevant UA policy. Some campuses and sites may choose to remain in Phase A until they have everything in place to safely operate with more people on site.
