On Monday, lawmakers reconvened in Juneau to ratify the spending plan proposed by Governor Dunleavy for federal funding received through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

    A new university-led institute will address climate, ocean and coastal challenges with greater collaboration and sharing of scientific resources. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has selected a partnership between the 污鱼社 Fairbanks, the University of Washington and Oregon State University to lead the institute.

Some of the university's community campuses held their own virtual ceremonies to celebrate their graduates, while others like the 污鱼社 Fairbanks' community campuses will participate in UAF's virtual commencements.

The budget has been impacted by a number of factors, most notably state funding cuts since 2015, enrollment decline since 2011, and the fiscal impact of COVID-19.

    Yesterday, the Alaska Legislature approved the final portions of Governor Dunleavy's plan to distribute $1.5 billion the State of Alaska has received in federal Coronavirus financial assistance. This action, by the Legislative Budget & Audit Committee (LB&A), comes after three weeks of review and negotiations by the Legislature and the administration.

    This week the Audit Committee of the Board of Regents will meet to discuss important budget matters and identify meaningful ways to meet the budget shortfall caused by a number of factors, most notably state funding cuts, enrollment decline, and the fiscal impact of COVID-19. Several weeks ago, the Audit Committee requested a financial plan to include more detail on proposed base reductions and one-time funding from available reserves to meet a total of $45 million in state UGF reduction through FY 2022.
